This Sunday at 11. Though we frequently invoke the ‘separation of church and state’ when we speak of justice and our political system, many of us don’t really understand what the Constitution of the United States says about that concept. But that phrase is nowhere in the legal documents of the nation, and instead we need to learn about the “free exercise” and “establishment” clauses that do govern the relationship between religion and government in America.

This Sunday at 11. There are many figures that Unitarian Universalism has held up as heroic or ‘saintly.’ Many of these are from the civil rights movement of the 1960s: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Unitarian minister James Reeb, and activist Viola Liuzzo. But our saints also include some other, less frequently mentioned characters: Jesus of Nazareth, singer John Lennon, and a wide range of personal heroes that we revere but may not name. What makes a hero? What takes a life from ‘good’ to ‘great’? Starting Point conversation follows the service.
This Sunday at Westside, we'll be talking about "Martyrs & Saints," and Rev. Carol mentioned in her sermon description John Lennon--which gives us an excuse to post Hey Bulldog. A song about songwriting, fear, and being willing to talk about your emotions. "If you're lonely you can talk to me." It also features barking.

This Sunday at 11. A Westside Tradition! Chris Edkins and Westside members ruminate on what it means to be an American and "patriotic" through stories, poetry, and pancakes. Yes--come hungry, there will be pancakes! Please bring a favorite poem or patriotic reading to share.
Last Sunday, as Pride Month came to an end, we marked the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. In this powerful service, Westsiders Barry Shumpert and Mary Donovan tell us what their lives were like before the riots, and what the events of 1969 changed for them and the LGBTQ community. Each July marks the beginning of the term for a new board president. We ask each incoming president to write a welcome letter and tell us a little about why they call Westside home. You'll hear much more from new prez Chris Edkins this year. And this Sunday, he's hosting our annual tradition of "Pancakes and Patriotism." Mmmmm. Pancakes.

Quidditch is THE sport amongst aspiring wizards and witches. A lot of running, throwing and dodging. The competition was fierce but friendly today at summer camp. Our tri-wizard tournament begins tomorrow!
This year is the 50th anniversary of the LGBTQ uprising that began after a police raid that happened in the early morning on June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. Widely considered a pivotal event in the movement for LGBTQ rights, Stonewall is something we all need to know about in order understand our current social and political climate.
Today was a busy day of learning about our bee friends, making Dragon Eggs, and tie-dyeing shirts. Here, our campers are preparing their eggs. More fun tomorrow! Big thanks to The Burns and The Bees for visiting us today!
One of the most exciting parts of the first day of summer camp is the Sorting Ceremony. Which house will the campers call home? Only the hat knows for sure. It can be a bit nerve-wracking, but the hat has a way of putting each camper into the perfect house. Can you spot your camper? (and take a look at the many faces of Wendy Weiss!)

We caught on video the elusive Jonas, who takes a huge chunk out of his day keeping the yard "on the other side of the creek" trimmed. Thanks Jonas, for all you've shown us! (Any Weezer fans out there?)
